The Reverend Jesse W. Mooney, Jr. is a native of Roxboro, North Carolina. He is a graduate of Bethel High School, Person County, North Carolina. He earned a Certificate of Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, North Carolina, and a Bachelor of Administration in Religion from Campbell University, Buies Creek, North Carolina. He is a recipient of the the Religion and Philosophy Scholarship Award and the Algernon Sidney Sullivan Award from Campbell University. He also received the Reavis Scholarship Award for church growth.
Reverend Mooney began his ministry as pastor of Coats Baptist Church on September 1, 1991. His previous pastorates included the Elm Grove Baptist Church, Nashville; Pilot Baptist Church, Zebulon; and Blackmon's Grove Baptist Church, Four Oaks; all in North Carolina. He is married to the former Peggy Puryear, also a native of Roxboro, North Carolina who is a retired Registered Nurse. They have three grown sons Dwayne, Paul and Joel and 8 grandchildren.
Our pastor's goal is to lead our church to be a spirit filled, loving, caring fellowship that shares the good news of God's grace with all people. He is a God called servant leader, using the Bible as the perfect guide for faith and practice. Pastor Mooney is a caring servant that would welcome an opportunity to know you personally and serve you in any way he can.
